CPADD is based in Ouidah, an historic city in Benin. Since August 2011, it offers new pleasant living conditions to trainees who are joining CPADD.
Reception and Accommodation
The staff of CPADD will take charge of the students when they arrive at Cotonou airport. They will be brought to CPADD in Ouidah, about 40 kilometers east of Cotonou.
Students are comfortably accommodated in single rooms with a fully equipped bathroom (toilet, sink and shower).
Training capacity CPADD is able to deliver two simultaneous courses of 24 students.
A recreation room, equipped with a TV with a decoder and a VCD player, is available within the center. In addition, a library with computers is available for the students and this as part of the training or for personal use.
Upon arrival, cleaning products and a set of school supplies is given to each student: 1 folder, 1 notebook with 100 pages, 1 A5 notepad, 1 A4 notepad, 1 set of 4 pens (blue, black, green and red), 1 lead pencil, 1 eraser, 1 ruler and 1 sharpener.
Life in Ouidah
Ouidah is a paradisiacal place, with a beach and a lush vegetation. It’s also a place of great historical value. Ouidah was the largest port of the slave trade.
You can discover its museum, its sacred forest, the cathedral, the python temple, the Portuguese fortress, the slave route and the Door of No Return.
The CPADD maintains many close ties with many countries such as France, Japan, Portugal and Belgium. They participate in the development of the center through subsidies or reinforcements.
Many International Organizations (Governmental or Non-Governmental) are involved in the center. Among them we find the National Commission for the Elimination of Anti-Personnel Mines (CNEMA), the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), Handicap International (HI) and many others.
The CPADD features an international framework:
• Beninese specialists trained in CPADD, France, Belgium, Germany or China,
• Former CPADD trainees from African countries,
• Experts and trainers from NGO’s.
The diversity of these trainers enables CPADD to be constantly informed on new procedures and maintain a high level of quality education.
